Your new car features a starter interlock system, a seat belt warning sys-
tem, and a three point lap-shoulder belt system for the front seat outboard
positions. (FOR STARTER INTERLOCK INFORMATION, SEE PG. 33.)
Your car is equipped with lap and lap-shoulder belts. For infants up to one
year of age we recommend the Ford Infant Carrier. For children one to
five years of age, we recommend the Ford Child Safety Seat (see details,
page 34). Both are secured with lap or lap-shoulder belts. All other passen-
gers should use the belts as provided.
Front Lap-Shoulder Belts
FASTENING BELTS-After entering your car, adjust the front seat to
obtain the best position for your driving comfort and visibility. Then use
the following procedure for fastening belts.
Pull the lap-shoulder belt from the retractor in one continuous motion so
the shoulder portion of the belt crosses your shoulder and chest and insert
the belt tongue into the proper buckle until you hear a snap and feel it
