ROUTINE SERVICE
Refilling Windshield Washer Reservoir
The windshield washer reservoir is in the left front comer of the engine
compartment. To make sure you always have a sufficient solution to clean
the windshield, keep the reservoir full. It's best to use special solutions
when refilling, because they contain additives which dissolve road grime.
They also contain antifreeze so -you can use the washers in cold weather.
We recommend year 'round use ofFord Ultra-Clear Windshield Washer
Solution.
Tires And Tire Care
Original Equipment Tires
The tires for your new car were selected to provide you with the best com-
bination of reliability, traction, weight-carrying ability, stability at high
speeds, tread life, and riding comfort. To obtain this balance of perform-
ance, and for your safety, you must always maintain inflation pressures,
and stay within the load limits and weight distribution recommendations
for your car.
Inflation Pressure limits
Refer to the tire decal, attached to the car on the right front body door,
for inflation pressures and load limits of standard and approved optional
tires.
The cold inflation pressure (after the car has been parked three hours and
driven less than three miles) should be as specified on the tire decal.
Check your tire pressure periodically.
Styled Steel Wheels
The ornamental hub cover of a styled steel wheel cannot be removed
unless the wheel and tire assembly has been removed from the car. Any
attempt to remove the hub cover while the wheel and tire assembly is on
the car will result in damage sufficient to require replacement of the hub
cover.
To remove the hub, depress the four spring tangs on the back side of the
wheel andpull the hub off. To install, insert the tangs into the slots in
the wheel hub opening and tap lightly with your hand to seat the tangs.
NOTE-With styled steel or aluminum wheels, the spare tire is mounted
on a conventional wheel.
Tire Reserve load
In the glove box of your car is consumer information relevant to the re-
serve load percentage that remains in your tires at the vehicle maximum
rated loads. By increasing pressure (up to maximum permissible pressure)
you can increase the reserve load percentage.
