5. Inspect the ring gear for chipped, worn, or broken teeth. If
damaged, replace the gearcase assembly.
Inspect
NOTE: In the event damage to the gears or housing
requires replacement, the entire assembly must be
replaced.
6. Remove the seals from each side of the gearcase housing.
Replace the O-ring in the gearcase cover.
7.
Remove the input shaft seal using a seal puller or other
suitable method.
8.
Inspect the input shaft by rotating the assembly in the
gearcase housing while checking for any looseness or
roughness. Inspect the pinion gear teeth for chipped, worn,
or broken teeth. If damaged, replace the ring gear and
pinion gear as a set.
NOTE: In the event damage to the gears, pinion
bearings or housing requires replacement, the entire
assembly must be replaced.
