CLUTCH LOCK-UP INSPECTION

Perform this inspection to determine if the clutch is engaging
fully and not slipping.
• Connect a multi-circuit tester onto the spark plug high-tension
code.
• Start the engine.
• Apply the front and rear brakes as firmly as possible.
• Fully open the throttle for a brief period and note the maxi-
mum engine speed sustained during the test cycle.
 Lock-up speed: 3 300 – 4 300 r/min
Do not apply full power for more than 5 seconds or
damage to the clutch or engine may occur.
If the lock-up speed (r/min) does not coincide with the standard
range, inspect the following items for any abnormalities.
* Clutch shoe ................................................. 3-39
* Clutch housing............................................. 3-40
* Movable drive and driven face .................... 3-36, 38
NOTE:
Release the parking brake lock.
