Code in ribbon cell is incorrect.
No ribbon is installed, or printer
cannot read or write to the ribbon
cell.
If the calculated CRC does not
match with what is read from the
ribbon smart cell, the data may be
corrupted.
The Ribbon cell is the wrong
version.

Printer class is not valid.
- or -
Printer version is not valid.
Number of feet stored in ribbon
cell has decremented to zero.
Installed ribbon is not the
preferred one for the installed
tape.
