Loosen andremove the shoulder screw whichactsasabelt keeper.
Referto Figure 29.
Remove t he belt fromaroundthe augerpulley,andslipthe belt betweenthe
supportbracket a ndthe augerpulley.SeeFigure 30.
NOTE: Engaging t he augercontrol w ill easeremoval a ndreinstallation ofthe
belt.

Reassemble augerbelt byfollowing instructions in reverse o rder.
NOTE: DoNOT forgetto reinstall t he shoulder s crewandreconnect t he spring
to the frameafterinstallingareplacement a ugerbelt. SeeFigure 29and
Figure 30.

Drive Belt
NOTE: Several components m ustbe removed andspecial toolsarerequiredinorder
to replace the snowthrower'sdrivebelt. Contact t he nearest S ears Parts & Repair
Center t o havethe drivebelt replaced.
FrictionWheelRemoval
If the snowthrowerfailsto drivewith the drivecontrolengaged, andperforming
the drivecontrol c ableadjustmentfailsto correct t he problem,thefriction wheel
mayneedto bereplaced. F ollowthe instructionsbelow.Examine the frictionwheel
rubberforsignsof wearor cracking andreplace wheelif necessary.
1.
Topreventspillage, r emove all fuel fromtank byrunningengineuntil it
stops.
2.
Place theshift leverinfirst Forward (F1)position.
3.
Carefully pivotthe snowthrowerupandforwardsothat it restsonthe auger
housing.
4.
Remove t he framecoverfrom the underside of the snowthrowerby
removing the self-tapping screws whichsecure it.
5.
Remove t he right-handwheelbyremoving the screw andbellwasher which
secure it to the axle.See Figure 31.
