Chapter 5 Troubleshooting
The following causes and remedies describe why your computer may not
recognize the scanner.

SCSI Connections

Cause The scanner is not connected correctly.
Remedy Connect the SCSI cable to the scanner correctly. (See "SCSI
Connections," on p.17.)
Cause The SCSI card is not recognized.
Remedy Correctly connect the SCSI card referring to the SCSI card manual.
Also, check the following according to the operating system your
computer is running on.
Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me:
Click [Start]-[Settings]-[Control Panel]-[System], open the [Device
Manager] dialog box and check if "SCSI Controller" has an "x" or "!" by
it. If you can see one of these, refer to the SCSI card's operator's
manual to reset the SCSI card.
Windows NT 4.0 Workstation:
Click [Start]-[Settings]-[Control Panel], open the [SCSI adapter] dialog
box and check if the SCSI card is being recognized correctly. If it is not
recognized correctly, refer to the SCSI card's operator's manual to
reset the SCSI card.
Windows 2000 Professional:
Click [Start]-[Settings]-[Control Panel]-[System]-[Hardware], open the
[Device Manager] dialog box and check if "SCSI controller" has an "x"
or "!" by it. If you can see one of these, refer to the SCSI card's
operator's manual to reset the SCSI card.
Windows XP:
Click [Start]-[Control Panel]-[Performance and Maintenance]-[System]-
[Hardware], open the [Device Manager] dialog box and check if "SCSI
controller" has an "x" or "!" by it. If you can see one of these, refer to
the SCSI card's operator's manual to reset the SCSI card.
