Connecting a telephone line to the modem
It is not possible to connect the modem to any of the following lines.
Internal home phones
Intercoms
CAUTION
Do not use the PBX internal phone lines installed in company offices. Doing so
may lead to a fire or electric shock.
NOTE
There are cases telephone construction (or installation) work will be necessary
depending on the shape of the connector of the telephone line.

Windows 2000
Select [Edit] in [Start] - [Settings] - [Control Panel] - [Phone and
Modem Options] - [Dialing Rules]
Input the necessary information (items such as the country, area code, etc.), select
[OK], then select [OK].
Windows XP
Select [Edit] in [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Printers and Other Hard-
ware] - [Phone and Modem Options] - [Dialing Rules]
Input the necessary information (items such as the country, area code, etc.), select
[OK], then select [OK].
NOTE
Do not enter either the standby or hibernation mode during communications.
<Modem-on-Hold function>
The modem of this computer has Modem-on-Hold function, which allows you to
receive an incoming call and stay connected to the Internet (Call-Waiting service
from your phone company is required. Your ISP must also support V.92).
To use this function, select
on the taskbar and make settings.
