MidJay Utility
MidJay Utility
The SD5 allows you to manage many functions of the Ketron MidJay remotely. In particular, you can view the files stored within the MidJay on
the display of the keyboard and access them simply and immediately. You can play Mp3 files, Wave files, Midifiles or pull-up and manage DjLoops
and Grooves in real time.
The MidJay-Sd5 combination is extremely powerful and offers you everything you need to make music; a powerful Arranger, sounds of amazing
quality and a multimedia player with sophisticated Audio/Midi functions means that you always have thousands of audio and midi songs at hand
and ready to use.
HOW THE SD5 - MidJay CONNECTION WORKS
For the MidJay to be able to communicate with the SD5, you need two MIDI cables, arranging a cross connection between the midi In and Out
of the two instruments. In particular you need to connect the Midi Output of the MidJay to the Midi In1 Input (GM) of the SD5 and the Midi Output
of the Sd5 to the Midi Input of the MidJay.
ACCESSING THE DISK OF THE MIDJAY VIA THE SD5
Once you have completed the connection, you can access the disk of the MidJay
directly from the panel of the keyboard.
Activate DISK mode by pressing the DISK button on the panel of the keyboard.
To use the Hard Disk, press the H H A A R R D D ( ( P P A A G G E E - - ) ) button.
To use the Floppy, press the F F L L O O P P P P Y Y ( ( P P A A G G E E + + ) ) button.
To access the files of the MidJay, press the H H A A R R D D ( ( P P A A G G E E - - ) ) key again.
MidJay appears at the top of the display to point out that it is connected together
with the current Folder between square brackets. The number of files and the
number of the directories within the current folder appear right underneath. All
the files and sub-folders stored in the current folder of the MidJay appear in the
middle of the display. The files are identified by their extension (.MP3, .WAV, .MID, etc..) whereas the sub-folders have an identification symbol
consisting of an asterisk between two square brackets [ [ * * ] ] .
SELECTING A DIFFERENT SECTION TO THE CURRENT SECTION
The MidJay avails of various sections that can be used simultaneously.
For example, you can open the W W A A V V E E folder, select and play a file, then open the M M P P 3 3 and play another file.
The operating mode just described is also available on the SD5.
To select the various sections of the MidJay, use function keys F F 1 1 . . . . F F 5 5 .
Using key F F 1 1 , access the M M I I D D I I section, using F F 2 2 access the W W A A V V E E section, using F F 3 3 access the M M P P 3 3 section, using F F 4 4 access the DjLoops/Sfx
section and using key F5 you can open the folder dedicated to the Play lists.
The MidJay registers the current sub-folder within the various sections. For this purpose, when you go back to a section used previously, the
last folder used is set as the current folder.
Press the function key relative to the current section again and the MidJay sets the default folder for the current section (for example
C:\WAVE for the section with the same name).
MOVING BETWEEN FILES AND PLAYING A FILE
The management of files in a Folder envisages the following rules:
The files and the sub-folders are shown in the middle of the display. To scroll the list of files, use the D D A A T T A A C C U U R R S S O O R R keys. Using the D D A A T T A A C C U U R R - -

Remember that the Start/Stop and Pause commands relate to the current section. If, for example, you select the WAVE section and play a file,
then you select the MP3 section using function key F3, function keys F9 and F10, Start/Pause and Stop respectively, will not affect the first file
played and started from the WAVE function.
When you view the contents of the HardDisk of the MidJay, you cannot manually modify the current section on the display of the SD5 from the
MidJay panel.
