Multi-Tab
The Multi-Tabs consist of a group of 16 buttons to the left of the keyboard, which are used to activate and control many of the functions offe-
red by the SD5.
In the various operating modes, you can control the mute of the various percussion sections, access the 16 parts of the General Midi directly,
activate and launch sound effects, alter the intonation of the quenched scale or pull-up the various registrations simply be pressing a key.
Furthermore, the functions assigned to these keys can be assigned directly by the user, therefore you can personalise the instrument accor-
ding to your own specific needs and habits.
MULTI-TABS MENU
Using the M M O O D D E E S S E E L L E E C C T T key, you can open the management menu of the Multi-
Tabs.
Using function keys F F 1 1 . . . . F F 6 6 you can activate the various operating modes, which are
described in detail in the section that follows.
F1 DRUM ON/OFF:
The DRUM ON/OFF mode is set automatically by the machine
and is used to activate or to rapidly mute the various percus-
sion sections of the SD5. The match between the multi-tab
and the percussion group is the following:

Tab2 Snare ( Snare, Rim Shot )
Tab3 Hi Hat
Tab4 Cymbals ( Crash, Ride, Cup )
Tab5 Toms
Tab6 Rimshot
Tab7 Latin 1 ( Congas , Bongos, Tambora )
Tab8 Latin 2 ( Cowbell, Guiro, Claves, )
Tab9 Latin3/Tamb ( Maracas, Cabaza, Shaker, Guira, Whistle )
Tab10 CLAP/FX
Multi-tab n° 16 acts as a RESET function, in other words it removes the mute function from all the percussion sections pre-
sently in such state.
F2 GM PAGE:
This mode is used to access the 16 parts of the General Midi simply
by pressing the related multi-tab. If you use Midifiles, this mode
proves particularly useful because it enables you to rapidly and
directly access all the parameters of the various tracks of the
Midifile. For example, to modify the program change of the bass
and of the drums of a Midifile, simply press the multi-tab related to
the track involved and modify the parameters of the track, as
explained in the S S o o n n g g P P l l a a y y chapter.
F3 FX:
This setting is used to play 16 different special effects, each of
which is associated with a different key. The Key/Effect assignment can be modified by the user. Using the D D A A T T A A C C U U R R S S O O R R
keys you can select one of the multi-tabs (number enhanced in black in the first column of the table) and, using the V V A A L L U U E E + + - -
keys, select the special effect to be assigned to the key. You can choose between the following sounds:
