General

The motor speed is sensed and controlled by the controller. When the vehicle moves faster downhill, the speed sensor
causes the motor to electrically control the speed of the vehicle through regenerative braking.
If the operator tries to override the electronic brake feature by moving the direction selector or key switch to another
position, the warning beeper activates and the vehicle brakes quickly until it reaches the speed of approximately 2
mph (3 kph).
The TCT system also includes an anti-stall protection feature that prevents commutator damage from stalling the vehi-
cle against an obstruction or ascending a hill. The electrical power to the motor deactivates and allows the vehicle to
roll freely before damage is done.
Each performance option features different degrees of breaking strength that occurs when the accelerator pedal is
released. See "Performance Options" on page 25 for information specific to each option.
The TCT controller is a low power usage unit, but drains the vehicle batteries over time. If the vehicle is stored for a
long period of time, put the run/tow switch in the TOW position to disconnect the controller from the batteries.
The Electronic Speed Control system has three separate units:
• pedal box
• speed sensor
• controller
TCT features include:
• regenerative braking
• pedal-up braking
• walk-away
• anti-roll back
• anti-stall
• high pedal disable
• diagnostic mode
See the following sections for information specific to each feature.
Regenerative Braking Feature
All TCT vehicles have a regenerative motor control system. When the regenerative braking system is activated, the
motor generates power which is returned to the batteries.
Example: If all of the following events occur:
• the vehicle being driven down a slope
• the vehicle speed is more than the specified top speed with the accelerator pedal pressed or released
the regenerative brake will limit the speed of the vehicle to the specified top speed but the warning beeper will not acti-
vate.
If the operator tries to override the electronic brake feature by moving the direction selector or key switch to another posi-
tion, the warning beeper activates and the vehicle brakes quickly until it reaches approximately 2 mph (3 kph).

Pedal-Up Braking Feature

Pedal-up braking is regenerative braking that occurs when the accelerator pedal is released and the vehicle in motion
between 8 mph (13 kph) and the vehicle top speed.
Example: If all of the following events occur:
• the vehicle being driven down a slope
• the accelerator pedal is released for more than one second
pedal-up braking decreases speed to 8 mph (13 kph), the vehicle can mover freely without the accelerator pressed,
