For type B23, the combustion air is drawn from the installation room (open flue gas combustion equipment).

The combustion air supply must come from outdoors (cf. DVGW-TRGI).

For type C, the combustion air is drawn through a sealed system from the outside (balanced flue gas combustion equipment).
To allow this, the grille on the ventilation air pipe must be removed.
For type C and pressurised flue gas routing without special tightness requirements, a vent measuring 1x150 cm² or 2x75 cm²
is needed in the installation room.
