priority, the port with the lowest numeric identifier will be enabled. The
range is 0-255.
• Cost - This parameter is used by the STA algorithm to determine the best
path between devices. Therefore, lower values should be assigned to
ports attached to faster media, and higher values assigned to ports with
slower media. (This takes precedence over port priority.)
• Fast Forwarding - This parameter is used to enable/disable the Fast
Spanning Tree mode for the selected port.
Select Apply to make changes. Select OK to return to the previous panel.

page. Select Next Page to view the next page.
VLAN Menu
The VLAN Menu is used to assign any port on the Switch to any of up to 256
VLAN groups. By using IEEE 802.1Q compliant VLANs, you can organize
any group of network nodes into separate broadcast domains, confining
broadcast traffic to the originating group. This also provides a more secure
and cleaner network environment.
• VLAN Port Configuration - Configure GARP, the default VLAN identi-
fier, default port priority, VLAN tagging on the attached link, GVRP and

GARP
Group Address Registration Protocol is used by GVRP and GMRP to reg-
ister or deregister client attributes for client services within a bridged
LAN.
• Join Time - The interval (centiseconds) between transmitting
requests/queries to participate in a group.
• Leave Time - The interval (centiseconds) a port waits before leaving a
group. This time should be set to more than twice the Join Time. This
