G A S O L I N E S Y S T E M — S e r v i c e
I n f o r m a t i o n — S p e c i f i c a t i o n s
t h r o t t l e c o n t r o l rod w i l l be necessary.
F i n a l l y run the engine
again at i d l i n g speed a n d c h e c k the
mercury
columns a g a i n .
A v e r y s l i g h t readjustment
o f t h e t h r o t t l e c o n t r o l rods m a y
be necessary to b r i n g t h e m to t h e proper level again.
If a n e q u a l i z i n g gauge is not a v a i l a b l e , the following m e t h o d
m a y be used to equalize the c a r b u r e t o r
adjustment.
D i s c o n n e c t the coil w i r e for t h e right-hand c y l i n d e r b l o c k .
A d j u s t the metering p i n o f t h e left-hand carburetor i n the
same manner as when using m e r c u r y tube a n d set the t h r o t t l e
s t o p screw so the engine w i l l j u s t t u r n over w i t h o u t s t a l l i n g .
T h e n disconnect the c o i l w i r e for the left-hand c y l i n d e r
b l o c k a n d adjust the m e t e r i n g p i n a n d the stop screw on the
r i g h t - h a n d carburetor i n a s i m i l a r manner.
W i t h the m e t e r i n g pins a n d t h r o t t l e stop screws on b o t h
carburetors properly adjusted, t h e engine should idle at a b o u t

I n a s m u c h as some a i r is d r a w n into the m a n i f o l d of the
carburetor being adjusted t h r o u g h the v a c u u m brake assister
connection o n the o p p o s i t e i n t a k e m a n i f o l d , the foregoing
adjustment w i l l p r o b a b l y be s l i g h t l y rich when a l l c y l i n d e r s
are operating.
T o correct this, i t m a y be necessary to screw
u p s l i g h t l y each m e t e r i n g p i n adjustment.
T h i s can best
be checked b y listening to exhaust a n d m a k i n g final
adjust-
ment w i t h b o t h sides firing.
W h e n a satisfactory adjustment
of b o t h carburetors
has
been secured, adjust
the l e n g t h o f the right-hand
t h r o t t l e
control rod very carefully, so t h a t the p i n will slip into place
w i t h o u t affecting the throttle opening on either
carburetor.
T h i s adjustment m u s t be m a d e v e r y accurately so as n o t t o
d i s t u r b the t h r o t t l e e q u a l i z a t i o n .
W h i l e testing the c a r on
the road, the above adjustments should be rechcckcd to be.
sure they are satisfactory.
3.
S e r v i c i n g t h e F u e l P u m p .
T h e service operations w h i c h can be performed on the fuel
p u m p w i t h o u t special tools a r e the c l e a n i n g of the filter a n d
the replacement of the filter parts, the vapor dome, a n d the
inlet a n d outlet valves.
U n d e r no circumstances s h o u l d the
p u m p housing be disassembled unless the necessary special
tools for reassembly are a v a i l a b l e .
Service o n the fuel p u m p c a n be o b t a i n e d from A . C . service
stations, w h i c h have special tools a n d spare parts.
D i s t r i b u t o r s a n d larger D e a l e r s are advised to keep a
p u m p o n h a n d for exchange t o render p r o m p t service.

secure the necessary tools from a n y A . C . service station.
