ing, the onboard socket is
switched off to take the load
off the motorcycle electrical
system.
Cable routing
The cables from the onboard
socket to the auxiliary device
must be routed in such a way
that they:
do not impede the rider
do not restrict or obstruct
the steering angle and han-
dling characteristics
cannot be trapped
Improperly routed cables
can impede the rider.
Route the cables as
described above.

Luggage

Correct loading
Overloading and uneven
loading can diminish the
riding stability of the motorcy-
cle.
Do not exceed the gross
weight limit and observe the
loading information.
Fitting a luggage system will
affect the handling of your
motorcycle. When driving
with loaded cases, a top
speed of 112 mph (180 km/h)
is recommended. Never drive
faster than 112 mph (180 km/
h) when the Topcase available
as optional accessory is
mounted.
Adjust setting of spring
preload, damping character-
istic and tire pressures to
suit total weight.
Make sure that weight is
uniformly distributed be-
tween right and left.
Pack heavy items at bottom
and toward inboard side.
Max. load in each case (left
and right): 22 lbs (10 kg).
Max. load in tank rucksack
11 lbs (5 kg).

Turn key in case lock to
OPEN position.
Case is unlocked.
