Removing front wheel
Place motorcycle on an
auxiliary stand; BMW Mo-

torrad recommends BMW
Motorrad rear wheel stand.
Installing rear-wheel stand

with OE Center stand:
Make sure ground is level
and firm and place motorcy-
cle on its center stand.
Once the calipers have
been removed, there is
a risk of the brake pads be-
ing pressed together to the
extent that they cannot be
slipped back over the brake
disk on reassembly.
Do not operate the handbrake
lever when the brake calipers
have been removed.
Remove mounting bolts 1
of brake calipers on left and
right.
Press brake pads in brake
caliper 2 apart slightly by
rocking back and forth A in
relation to brake disks 3.
Mask off area of wheel rim
that could be scratched in
process of removing brake
calipers.
Carefully pull brake calipers
back and out until clear of
brake disks.
