O P E R ATING C O N T R O L S A N D ADJUSTMENTS

ON/OFF SWITCH

The on/off s w i t c h ( A ) F i g . 2 3 , i s l o c a t e d a t t h e f r o n t l e ft
s i d e o f t h e j o i n t e r. To give power to the jointer, move the
switch (A) to the UP position. To turn the power OFF,
move the switch (A) to the down position.
LOCKING SWITCH IN
T HE OFF
POSITION
W e suggest when the jointer is not in use, that the switch
be locked in the OFF position for safety and to prevent
unwarranted use. This can be done by pulling the switch
toggle (B) outward as shown in Fig. 24. Wi t h t h e s w i t c h
toggle (B) removed, the switch (A) will not operate. How-
ever, should the toggle switch (B) be removed while the
jointer is running, it can be turned off, but cannot be
r e s tarted again without inserting the switch toggle (B).
O V E R L O A D PROTECTION
The jointer is equipped with a reset overload relay button
( C ) Fig. 24. If the motor shuts o ff o r f a i l s t o s tart due to
overloading (jointing too deep; working with dull knives;
using the jointer beyond its capacity), move the power
switch to the off position. Let the motor cool three to five
minutes, then push the reset button (C) to reset the over-
load device. The motor can then be turned on again in
the usual manner.
KNIFE A N D TABLE
ADJUSTMENTS
In order to do accurate work, the knives must be exactly
level with the outf e e d ta b l e . To check and adjust if
necessary, proceed as follows:
1 . M A K E C E R TAIN THE MACHINE I S DISCONNECT-
E D F R O M THE P O W E R SOURCE.
2 . Loosen locking knob (B) Fig. 25, and lower the in-
f e e d table by turning the adjustment knob (A) counter-
clockwise and swing the cutterhead guard out of the way.
3 . Place a steel straight edge on the outf e e d table ex-
tending out over the cutterhead, as shown in Fig. 26.
4 . C a r e f u l l y r o tate the cutterhead by hand. The knives
should just touch the straight edge.
