HOW TO PREPARE A DRY CHARGED BATTERY FOR SERVICE

A. Remove vent caps.
Remove o r destroy any sealing device
which may have been used t o close or r e s t r i c t t h e v e n t
openings.
B . F i l l each c e l l of t h e b a t t e r y
w i t h

s p e c i f i c g r a v i t y
e l e c t r o l y t e t o the proper level. 'Note: Temperature
of
b a t t e r y e l e c t r o l y t e a t time of f i l l i n g should be
above 60 F . Never f i l l b a t t e r y i n the vehicle.

F i l l w i t h e l e c t r o l y t e u n t i l
i t
becomes v i s i b l e a t bottom
of f i l l i n g t u b e .
D .
A l l o w b a t t e r y t o s t a n d f o r 15 minutes a t room temperature
before charging.
E . Place on charger for
1 0 minutes a t a 1 5 amp r a t e . I f
a f a s t r a t e c h a r g e r i s n o t a v a i l a b l e c h a r g e f o r one
h a l f hour a t a 7 amp r a t e .
F . After charging, check a c i d l e v e l s i n a l l c e l l s and f i l l
with acid t o the t o p of s p l i t ring ledge.
G . I n s t a l l b a t t e r y i n t h e v e h i c l e . Remember, always connect
t h e n e g a t i v e t e r m i n a l l a s t . A f t e r b a t t e r y has been placed
i n s e r v i c e add only water. Do not add acid.
