Cisco SPA500 Series and WIP310 IP Phone Administration Guide
These Cisco IP phones can receive and display text messages via SIP
according to RFC3428. Users can receive text messages. WIP310 users can
and
send
receive text messages.
When this feature is enabled, the phone displays messages up to 255 characters
in length. The message appears on the phone display along with the date and
time.
Service providers could use text messages to:
Send billing information, calling minutes consumed, minutes available
Include additional text with a call to facilitate call processing
SPA50XG:
To enable text message receipt on the SPA50XG phones:
Log in to the web administration interface.
Click Admin Login and advanced.
Click the User tab.
Under Supplementary Services, in the Text Message field, choose yes.
(Optional) To enable receipt of text messages from a third party directly without
proxy involvement, in the Text Message from 3rd Party field, choose yes.
Click Submit All Changes.

To enable text messaging on the SPA525G phones:
Log in to the web administration interface.
Click Admin Login and advanced.
Click the User tab.
Under Supplementary Services, in the Display Text Message on Recv field,
choose yes.
