• Perform these maintenance procedures more frequently when engine is operated under
extremely dusty and dirty conditions.
* • 250 Hours when leaded gasoline is used.

WARNING: Accidental Starts!
Before seNicing the engine or equipment, always
remove the spark plug to prevent the engine from
starting accidentally. Ground the lead to prevent
sparks that could cause fires.
1. Make sure the engine is stopped, level, and is
cool so the oil has had time to drain into the
sump.
CHECK OIL LEVEL
The importance of checking and maintaining the
proper oil level in crankcase cannot be overem-
phasized. Check oil BEFORE EACH USE as follows:
2. Clean the area around oil fill cap/dipstick be-
fore removing to keep dirt, grass clippings,
etc., out of the engine.
3. Remove oil fill cap/dipstick; wipe oil off. Rein-
sert dipstick and push it all the way down into
tube. Remove dipstick and check the level.
4. On engines with threaded type plug dipstick,
shoulder plug on top of hole to observe level.
