TCAM Allocation

NOTE
TCAM Allocation
STEP 1
Cisco 500 Series Stackable Managed Switch Administration Guide
If you factory reset unit 1 (the master unit), then you will only reset the master unit.
The backup will take over as the master temporarily and the slaves will act as if
nothing happened. If you factory reset the stack, then all the units, including slaves,
will be factory reset at the same time.
Use the TCAM Allocation Settings page to customize TCAM allocation. TCAM
entries are divided into the following groups:
IP Entries—TCAM entries reserved for IPv4 static routes, IP interfaces, and
IP hosts. Each type generates the following number of TCAM entries:
-
IPv4 static routes—One entry per route
-
IP interface—Two entries per interface
-
IP Hosts—One entry per host
Non-IP Entries—TCAM entries reserved for other applications, such as
ACL rules, CoS policers, and VLAN rate limits.
TCAM allocation can be modified incorrectly, in one of the following ways:
The number of TCAM entries you allocate is less than the number currently
in use.
The number of TCAM entries that you allocate is greater than the maximum
available for that category. (maximum values are displayed on the page).
If you change the TCAM allocation incorrectly, an error message is displayed. If
your TCAM allocation is feasible, a message is displayed that an automatic reboot
will be performed with the new settings.
