14.7 Printout not in Desired Position

98
Description:
The print image is not positioned as expected on the labels or similar.
Possible Causes and Suggested Remedies:
• Bad application settings or ESim command errors
- Check the application settings or the ESim commands for possible
explanations. See the application manual or the ESim v5.xx for Easy-
Coder PD4, Programmer's Reference Manual.
• Label gap sensor errors
- Check if the light path between the two parts of the label gap sensor
is disturbed by dust, stuck labels, or an erroneously loaded transfer
ribbon. Clear or clean.
- Check if the label gap sensor is positioned correctly across the media
path to detect black marks or punched holes. If using irregularly
shaped labels, the sensor should be aligned with the front tip of the
label.
- Calibrate the sensor as described in Chapter 11 in the User's Guide.
- Check if the label gap sensor is properly connected to CN8 and CN9
on the main board.
- Check that the printer is set the proper paper type (Black mark/Gap
paper/Plain paper). With the power on, check signals on U28, pin
2 (Black Mark) and U28, pin 24 (See Through) on the main board
while manually pulling a media with gaps or black marks through the
two parts of the sensor. If no reaction, the sensor needs replacing as
described in Chapter 7.5.
• The media is not guided properly through the print mechanism.
- Check that the edge guide on the media supply post guides the media
so it runs fl ush with the guide plate (see Chapter 5.1).
- Check that the inner media guide is placed fl ush to the inner gable
and that the outer guide is adjusted according to the with of the
media and is folded down so it engages the lower shaft (see Chapter
7.4).
• Bad media properties.
- Check that the media characteristics match the media specifi cations in
the User's Guide in regard of position and size of slots, black marks, or
punched holes.
- In case of self-adhesive labels on a liner, consider if the liner has insuf-
fi cient transparency or if there is some kind of printing on the liner
that may interfere with the label gap sensor.
