Heat sink

NOTE:
The heat sink spare part kit includes replacement thermal material.
Description
For use only on HP Compaq 6555b and 6455b computer models
For use only on HP Compaq 6550b and 6450b computer models equipped with graphics subsystems
with discrete memory
For use only on HP Compaq 6550b and 6450b computer models equipped with graphics subsystems
with UMA memory
Heat sink for use on the SouthBridge chipset
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

Remove the following components:

Keyboard (see

Switch cover (see

Fan (see
Remove the heat sink:
1.
Following the 1, 2, 3, 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips PM2.5×9.0
captive screws (1) that secure the heat sink to the system board.
NOTE:
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach
it.
2.
Lift the right side of the heat sink (2) until it rests at an angle.
