Problem
The television has a
picture but no
sound.
Picture and sound
are not being repro-
duced at all or the
quality is poor, for
example picture is
breaking up into
squares (pixelation
artifacts) or sound
is being lost.
Possible cause
The SCART cable or audio
cable is not plugged in
correctly.
The mute function for the
television or the set-top
box is activated.
The stereo system that
may be connected is not
switched on or is set
incorrectly.
The signal received is too
weak.
You are living in an area
that is not suitable for
receiving DVB-T signals.
The antenna is not posi-
tioned properly or is
defective.
Bad weather (storms,
snow) impairs reception in
the case of an external
antenna.
Devices with an electric
motor (e.g. vacuum
cleaner, mixer, drill) inter-
fere with playback.
The reception of individual
channels is disrupted by
other electrical devices.
Your television uses tech-
niques for improving
reception for analogue tel-
evision reception.
Remedy
Check that all devices are
switched on and are connected
properly.
Check the volume setting for both
devices.
Switch on the stereo system or
switch it to the signal input to
which the audio cable of the set-
D
top box is connected.
Press the
button to check the
signal strength displayed for the
current channel.
Check all cable connections for
damage.
You may be able to improve recep-
tion by changing the polarisation
of your antenna or by replacing an
internal antenna with an external
antenna. Contact a specialist retail
store for radio and television tech-
nology if necessary.
For positioning the antenna, see
"Connecting an Antenna" on
page 14. Contact a specialist retail
store for radio and television tech-
nology if necessary.
Check whether the antenna is
adequately protected against bad
weather. Contact a specialist retail
store for radio and television tech-
nology if necessary.
Check whether such a device is
being used in the house. Switch
off devices that are not required.
Do not locate possible sources of
interference (e.g. DECT tele-
phones) in the vicinity of your set-
top box.
Reset the reception enhance-
ments for the television. Refer to
the user guide for your television.
