USB
Universal Serial Bus. Interface for connecting a PC. Data can be exchanged between the
PC and set-top box using suitable PC software, in order for example to archive record-
ings of the set-top box on the PC. It is not possible to connect other peripherals (e.g. USB
hard disks or USB memory sticks) with the pure slave function of a USB interface. A max-
imum transmission rate of 480 Mbps can be achieved with the USB 2.0 Standard (Slave).
YUV
Luminance-chrominance model. Takes account of the fact that the human eye per-
ceives intensity better than colour. The Y channel indicates the light intensity of a sur-
face, while the U and V channels describe the colour variation from the basic colours
blue and red. The advantage of this colour model is the better utilization of the band-
width available for signal transmission.
