When you use MotionDV STUDIO
When you capture video from a tape onto a PC with the video
editing software "MotionDV STUDIO 5.1E LE for DV" in the
CD-ROM (supplied), the frames may be dropped and the audio
may skip depending on the environment of the PC or conditions
of the hard disk.
In this case, we recommend setting the capture saving method to
[If some frames are missing, rewind and join them up] with the
following procedure before use.
• We recommend that you use a Hard Disk with a specification of
7200 RPM.
1
Start the MotionDV STUDIO 5.1E LE for DV and then
click the [Settings] icon on the left of the screen.
(Or select [Tool] >> [Setting] on the top of the screen.)
2
Click [Input tape] tab on the setting screen and select
[If some frames are missing, rewind and join them up]
on the [Capture saving method].
If the video camera repeats rewinding the tape several
times or captures different images when you wish to
capture the video on a tape to the PC after you have tried
the above procedure, please try to do the following:
1.
Defragment the PC.
Select [Start] >> [All Programs (Programs)] >> [Accessories]
>> [System Tools] >> [Disk Defragmenter (Defrag)], then select
the volume (disk) to be defragmented, and click [Defragment].
2.
When software other than MotionDV STUDIO (e.g. resident
software, and application software) is running, frame drop
may occur. We recommend closing that software.
3.
Right-click the desktop (wallpaper), select [Properties] >>
[Desktop] >> [Customize Desktop] >> [Web], and uncheck the
checkbox in [Web pages].
(Depending on the OS, right-click the desktop, select
[Properties] >> [Web], and uncheck the checkbox [Show Web
content on my Active Desktop (View my Active Desktop as a
web page)].)
4.
If DMA is not set for the destination hard disk in the personal
computer, video sometimes cannot be imported normally. Set
DMA in the following procedure.
(However, the DMA setting procedure varies depending on the
personal computer used. For details, refer to the User's
Manual for the personal computer used. In the following
procedure, the method to capture images on the primary hard
disk is described as an example.)
1. Right-click [My Computer] in [Start] menu (on the desktop,
depending on the OS) to select [Properties].
• [System Properties] screen will be displayed.
2. Select [Hardware] tab and click [Device Manager].
(Depending on the OS, click [Device Manager] tab.)
• [Device Manager] screen will be displayed.
3. Double-click [IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers], and double-click
[Primary IDE Channel].
• [Primary IDE Channel Properties] screen will be displayed.
(Depending on the OS, double-click [Disk drive] tab and then
double-click [GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE**].)
4. Select [Advanced Settings (Settings)] tab, designate DMA as
[Transfer Mode (Options)], and click [OK].
• The setting is complete.
