Listening to the radio

Finding a station

The following steps show you how to tune in
to FM and AM radio broadcasts using the
automatic (search) and manual (step) tuning
functions. Once you are tuned to a station you
can memorize the frequency for recall later—
see Memorizing station presets on page 46 for
more on how to do this.

Press FM/AM (remote) or TUNER (front
panel) to switch to the tuner and select
the AM or FM band.
Each press switches the band between FM
and AM. TUNER (front panel) switches
between FM, AM and station recall (this last
option is covered in Memorizing station
presets on page 46).

Tune to a station using the TUNE +/–
buttons.
When using the front panel, use TUNING +/–.

Automatic tuning
To search for stations in the currently
selected band, press and hold either the
TUNE +/– buttons for about a second. The
receiver will start searching for the next
station, stopping when it has found one.
Repeat this step to search for other
stations.
Manual tuning
To change the frequency one step at a
time, press the TUNE +/– buttons.
High speed tuning
Press and hold the TUNE +/– buttons for
high speed tuning, releasing the button
once the desired frequency is reached.

Improving poor FM reception

If you're listening to an FM station in stereo
but the reception is weak, you can improve
the sound quality by switching to mono.
Press MONO on the remote.
The MONO indicator lights when the tuner is
in mono reception mode.
Press again to switch back to auto-stereo
mode (the STEREO indicator lights when
receiving a stereo broadcast).
