13.4 Adjusting Forks

1. Remove the dust cover (A) from the caster headtube (B).
 The sector block may need to be removed in
order to remove the dust cover. Refer to
Adjusting Forks on page 97.
2. To properly tighten caster journal system and guard against flutter,
perform the following check:
A. Tip back the wheelchair to floor.
B. Pivot both forks (C) and casters (D) to top of their arc
simultaneously.
C. Let casters drop to bottom of arc.
D. Adjust locknuts (E) according to freedom of caster swing.
3. Repeat STEPS C-D until the wheels swing once to one-side, then
immediately rest in a straight downward position.
4. Test wheelchair for maneuverability.
5. Snap dust cover into the caster headtube.
