Explanation
The wireless NIC installed in the
printer is not the correct part
number for a 6500-v printer.
Application software tried to
perform an illegal printer function
or damaged logic circuits were
detected on the controller board.
Corrective Action
Remove the NIC and replace it with a NIC with the correct part
number for this printer.
1. Cycle power. If the message appears, power off and unplug the
printer.
2. Disconnect the input data line from the host computer. Plug in the
printer and power it on. If the message appears, download the
latest code from IBM First (page 231).
3. Cycle power. Run the print job again. If the message reappears,
the controller board or microcode is suspect. Do the following:
4. Save the printer configuration values. (Refer to the User's
Manual .)
5. Clear NVRAM (page 237).
6. Download and install the latest code from IBM First (page 231).
7. Power on the printer in download mode and load flash memory
(page 238).
a. If you encounter loading problems, go to the appropriate error
code for resolution.
b. If you encounter the failure or message that brought you to
this procedure, replace the controller board (page 319). After
replacing the controller board, DO NOT make the printer
READY, but proceed immediately to the next step.
8. Download and install the latest code from IBM First (page 231).
9. Power on the printer in download mode and load flash memory
(page 238).
10. If you encounter the failure after replacing the controller board,
there is an application software error. Reinstall the original
controller board and contact your DDS and Second Level
Support.
