Installing Windows NT 4.0

To install Service Pack 5

If you've installed a retail version of Windows NT 4.0, you'll need to install Service
Pack 5. This is located on Recovery CD in the root directory \NT4_SP5. You can also
download the service pack from
http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/recommended/sp5/allsp5.asp
1. Insert the HP Notebook Recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive.
2. From the Start menu, click Run.
3. From the CD-ROM drive, run \NT4_SP5\SP5I386.EXE.
4. Select "Accept the Software License Agreement".
5. Deselect "Backup files" and click Install.
6. When prompted, click Restart.

To install video support

If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the video driver. The video driver
is contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\NT4\VIDEO subdirectory.
1. Run SETUP.EXE from the \HP\DRIVERS\NT4\VIDEO directory.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the VIDEO driver.
The driver will be installed after the system reboots.
If your operating system asks you for settings, set the Resolution to 1024 x 768, and the
Color Palette to 65536 colors.
Upon successful installation, an ATI icon appears on the bottom right corner of the
taskbar.

To install audio support

If you have installed retail Windows you need to install the audio drivers. The audio
drivers are contained in the \HP\DRIVERS\NT4\AUDIO subdirectory.
1. Run SETUP.EXE from the \HP\DRIVERS\NT4\AUDIO directory.
