z The airbag system is additionally
trigg ered in the event of a serious
accident involving a frontal impact, a nd
forms a sa fety cushion for the driver and
front passenger. In the event of a sid e-
im pact, the sid e airba g sy stem 3
protects the occupants in the front of the
vehicle, and the curta in airb ag system
protects both front and rear outboard
seat occupants.

Warning
The airbag system serves to supplement
the three-point sea t belts and b elt
tensioners. The seat belts must therefore
always be worn.
Disreg ard of these notes ca n lead to
injuries which may be fatal. Vehicle
passengers must b e informed
according ly .

restraint systems on the following pages.
Three-point seat b el ts
The front and rear seats are equipped with
three-point seat b elts with autom atic
retractors and locking devices, allowing
freedom of body m ovem ent when the
vehicle moves at a consta nt speed,
although the spring-tensioned belts are
always a snug fit.
The belt ha s a "vehicle sensitive retractor"
whic h is d esigned to lock during heavy
acceleration or deceleration in any
direction.

Warning
Always wear y our sea t belt, and that
means also in urban traffic and when you
are a rear seat pa ssenger. It ca n sav e
your life!
Pregnant women too must alwa ys wear a
seat b elt, k eeping the lap belt low and
snug on the hips and pelvis (not the waist
or abd om en, where a ctuating b elt
tensioners could cause serious injury in
the event of a collision).
Seats, interior
In the ev ent of an accident, persons not
wearing seat belts endanger their fellow
occupants and them selves.

S eat belts are designed to b e used by only
one person at a time. They are only
suita ble for children a ged up to 12 or
smaller than 150 cm if used in conjunction
with a child restra int 3.
For children up to 12 years of a ge, we
recommend the Vauxhall child restraint
system 3 - see pag e 43.
