Warning
Used engine oil filters and empty oil
containers should not b e disposed of a s
domestic refuse. We rec om mend that
you entrust oil and oil filter changes to a
work shop who is familiar with legal
requirements regarding disposal of used
oil a nd can thus help to protect both the
environment and y our health.
Engine oil is a d anger to health; avoid
prolonged contact with skin and wash
exposed areas thoroug hly .
Remem ber to reset the engine oil life
monitor 3 whenever the engine oil is
changed - see page 190.

The engine oil life m onitor lets y ou k now
when to change the oil. Ba sed on driving
conditions, the mileage / kilometre interval
at which a n oil change will b e indica ted can
vary c onsiderably .
For the system to work properly, it must be
reset ev ery time the oil is changed. Consult
a workshop.
When the sy stem has calculated tha t oil life
ha s been diminished, control indicator C
illuminates in the instrument cluster -
see p age 69. Engine oil needs changing
within approx. 600 miles (1000 k m). Engine
power m ay be decreased.

Diesel fuel filter

Drain diesel fuel filter of residual water a t
every engine oil change.
Place a container underneath the filter
housing. Turn drain plug, loc ated on the
left of the filter housing, anticlock wise
using a suitab le screwd riv er, to drain off
the water.
The filter is drained a s soon as diesel fuel
emerges from the port. Retighten the drain
plug b y turning it clockwise.
With engine switched off, turn ignition key
to O N, wait approx. 5 seconds, and turn
key to LO CK to perform priming operation.
Perform this operation 3 times or more
while the engine is switched off, to a void air
entering the fuel line.
