Fault Z
If a fa ult occ urs in the a utomatic
transm ission, control indicator Z will
illuminate in the instrument cluster.
Autom atic shifting ma y be much harsher
than norm al or, in the case of a serious
fault, cancelled a ltogether.
Consult a workshop as soon as possible to
have the ca use of the fault elim inated.
Interruption of p ower supply
The clutch is not d iseng aged if the vehicle
battery is discha rg ed and a gear has been
selected. The vehicle cannot move.
If the ba ttery is flat, the selector lever
cannot b e m ov ed out of position P or N.
Start the v ehicle using jump leads -
see p age 168.
If the cause of the interruption to the power
supply is not a discharged battery, release
selector lever:
1. Turn off ignition and rem ove key .
2. Dep ress and hold footbrake.
3. Rem ove cap on console with a suitable
screwdriver.
4. Insert ig nition key a nd press gently into
shift lock relea se slot.
5. Shift to neutral (N).
6. Rem ove k ey from shift lock release slot.
7. Start engine and shift to chosen gear.
8. Reinstall cap on c onsole.
