Eng ine oi l level check and topp ing up
The engine oil level must b e checked with
the v ehicle horizontal and w ith the engine
(which must be a t operating temperature)
switched off. Wait a few m inutes b efore
check ing the level to allow the normal oil
accumulation in the engine to drain b ack
into the oil pan.
Top up if the engine oil level has dropped
to the " add oil" low er ma rk (or MIN mark).
The oil level must not go above the upper
(or MAX) mark on the dipstick. This would
lea d, for example, to increa sed oil
consump tion, excessive formation of
carbon residue and a p ossible risk of
dam age to the cataly tic conv erter or the
engine.
When replenishing , attem pt to use the
sam e typ e of eng ine oil as used at the last
oil cha nge.
Capacities - see page 218.
A stab iliza tion of the engine oil
consumption will not take place until the
vehicle has been driven several thousa nd
miles / kilometres. O nly then can the a ctual
degree of oil c onsumption be established.
If oil consumption exceeds more than
0.6 litres every 600 m iles (1000 k m) after
this running-in period , consult a workshop.

Engine oil change, oi l filter chang e
Eng ine oil changes are to be carried out
depending on time interva ls or m ileage /

lubrication properties not only through
eng ine operation but a lso through ageing .
We recommend that you use g enuine
Vauxhall oil filters.
