Starting the en gine:
Manual transmission in neutral,
Depress clutch and footbrake,
Automatic transm ission in P or N,
Do not acc elerate

Petrol engines:

Turn key to START and release it
Diesel engin es:
Turn key to ON, wh en preheating

Key returns automatically to ON position
when released .

temp era ture is low .
Start attem pts should not last longer than
15 seconds. If engine does not start, w ait
10 seconds before repeating starting
proc edure.
The inc reased engine speed automatically
returns to normal idling speed as the
engine temperature rises.
Driv e at a moderate speed, especially in
cold weather, until norm al engine
op erating temperatures have been
reached .

In brief
Releasing the handbrake:
Raise lever slightly,
press release button ,
lower lever fully
To reduc e operating forc es, depress
footbrake at the same time.
Do not drive with handbrake on, to avoid
dam age to brakes on the rear w heels. Do
not apply handbrake while v ehicle is in
motion or as a substitute for the footbrake.
Drive carefully, economically and with the
env ironment in m ind . While driving, do not
do a ny thing that c ould distract y ou.
