Making an international call

You can make an international call by entering a "+" first from the Home
screen, and then a country code, an area code (with the first "0" omitted)
and a phone number in turn.
Note that making or receiving international calls may incur expensive
roaming fees. Contact your service provider for information about these
charges.
To make an international call from Japan:
1. From the Home screen, press the [ * ] key twice to enter a + sign.
2. Enter a country code and the phone number you would like to call.
Following the + sign, enter a country code, an area code (with the first 0

omitted), then a phone number.
For example, to dial a number in London, 020-xxxx-xxxx, from Japan, enter

+4420xxxxxxx (44 is the country code for the United Kingdom, and 20 is
London's area code where the first 0 is omitted.)
3. Press the [Send] key to begin your call.
Note: If you are using a SoftBank SIM card in some areas of Japan,
you may need to configure the following settings before making an
international call. For specific details about the regions affected,
contact Softbank or Vertu Customer Service (page 34)
1. Register international prefix code (first time only):

From the Home screen, select Menu » Settings » Call »
International Prefix » Edit IDD prefix.
Enter 010 on the screen that appears, and then select Save.

2. Change the setting below, depending on your current location:
From the Home screen, select Menu » Settings » Call »

International Prefix.
Depending on the country you are staying in, select either of the

following:
When you are in Japan, select Automatic.

When you are in a country outside Japan, select Off.
Making a call while abroad
1. Make sure that your Vertu phone is in a strong signal area and the
battery is charged fully enough (page 19).
If your Vertu phone is in a poor signal area or you suspect the state of signal

reception is not stable, refer to "Tips to use your Vertu phone abroad" (page
36) to make sure you have configured the relevant roaming settings as
required on your phone.
2. Press the [ * ] key twice to enter a + sign.
3. Enter the phone number you would like to call.
Following a "+" sign, enter a country code, an area code (with the first 0

omitted), then a phone number.
When you place a call to Japan from abroad, enter +81 first, followed by the
>
area code (with the first 0 omitted), then the phone number. For example, if
the area code is 03 (for the 23 wards in Tokyo), merely enter 3; for a mobile
phone number starting with 090, enter 90.
4. Press the [Send] key to begin your call.
Note: Regardless of which SIM card you are using, you must always
turn Off the following International Prefix setting, when you are in a
country outside Japan:
Menu » Settings » Call » International Prefix
