Wipe up heavy soil on the oven
bottom.
Before a Clean Cycle
[AWARNING
FIRE HAZARD: Wipegreaseand heavysoilfrom the
ovenbottombeforeself-cleaning. Failureto do somay
resultin an ovenfire.
Werecommendventingyour kitchenwith an open
windowor usinga ventilationfan or hoodduringthe
firstself-cleancycle.
Remove any broilerpan,broilergrid,probe,all
cookwareand anyaluminumfoilfrom the oven.
NOTE:
tf yourovenisequippedwith shiny,silver-colored
ovenracks, r emovethem beforeyou beginthe
self-clean cycle.
Theshiny,silver-colored ovenracks(onsome
models) canbe self-cleaned, b utthey willdarken,
losetheirlusterand becomehardto slide.
tf yourovenisequippedwith grayporcelain-
coatedovenracks, t hey may be leftin the oven
duringthe self-clean cycle.
Soilon the front frame of the rangeand outside
the gasketon the doorwill needto be cleanedby
hand.Cleantheseareaswith hot water,soap-filled
steel-wool p adsor cleansers such asSoftScrub _.
Rinse wellwith cleanwater and dry.
Donot cleanthegasket.Thefiberglassmaterialof
the ovendoor gasketcannotwithstandabrasion,it is
essential f or the gasketto remainintact,tfyou notice
it becomingworn or frayed,replaceit.
Makesurethe ovenlightbulb coverisin placeand
the ovenlightisoff.
IMPORTANT: Thehealthof somebirdsisextremely
sensitive to the fumesgivenoff duringthe self-
cleaningcycleof any range.Hove birdsto another
well-ventilated room.

How to Set the Oven for Cleaning
Theovendoorsmustbe closed and all controlsset
correctly for thecycleto work properly.
[] TouchtheSELF CLEAN pad.
A 5-hourself-clean time isrecommended for
usewhencleaningsmall,containedspills. A
self-cleantime of 5 hoursisrecommended for
a dirtieroven.
[] tf a time otherthan 5 hoursor ] hoursis
needed,usethe number padsand enterthe
desiredcleantime.
Youcanchangethe cleantime to anytime between
3 hoursand 5 hours,depending on howdirty your
ovenis.

Theupperand lowerovendoorslockautomatically.
Thecooktopelementsare alsolockedoutduring
self-clean. T hedisplaywill showthe cleantime
remaining, i t willnot be possible to openthe oven
doorsor usethecooktopuntilthetemperaturedrops
belowthe locktemperatureand LOCKED/DOOR
goesoff in the controldisplay.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR _ goesoff,you willbe able
to openthe doors.
ThewordLOCKED/DOOR _ will flashand the
word door willdisplayifyou set the cleancycle
andforget to closethe ovendoors.
Tostop a cleancycle,touchthe CLEAR/OFF pad.
WhenLOCKED/DOOR _ goesoff,indicatingthe
ovenshavecooledbelowthe lockingtemperature,
you will beable to openthe doors.
DoubleOvens:
Youcan seta cleancyclein bothovensat the
sametime;however,theywill not self-cleanat the
sametime.Thelastovensetwill automatically
delayits start untilthe endof the first oven'sclean
cycle.
Whenan ovenis setto self-clean, b oth ovendoors
will lockand the cooktopcontrolswill lockout.The
ovensand cooktopcannot be usedwhenan oven
isset to self-clean.
