BASIC OPERATION

■ Optional Voice scrambler operation

D Activating the scrambler function
The optonal Voce scrambler provdes prvate communca-
tons. In order to receve or send scrambled transmssons
you must first actvate the scrambler functon. To actvate the
functon, an optonal scrambler unt s necessary. See pages
45 and 50 for settng the scrambler unt. Ask your dealer for
detals.
The scrambler functon automatcally turns OFF when
Channel 16 or 70 s selected.
q Rotate [SELECTOR] to select the desred channel other
than Channel 16 and 70.
w Push [F], then push [0•
bler functon ON.
• "SCRAM" appears.
e To turn the scrambler functon OFF, repeat step w.
• "SCRAM" dsappears.

D Programming scrambler codes
There are 32 codes (1 to 32) or 128 codes (0 to 127)* aval-
able for programmng when an optonal scrambler unt s
nstalled. In order to understand one another, all transcevers
n your group must have the same scramble code. Ths func-
ton may not be avalable dependng on the dealer settng.
*Depends on the nstalled scrambler unt.
q Whle pushng and holdng [16•9], push [POWER] to
enter Set mode.
• Turn the power OFF n advance.
w After the dsplay appears, release [16•9].
e Rotate [SELECTOR] to select the "Scrambler Code,"
then push [ENT].
r Rotate [SELECTOR] to select the desred scrambler code.
t Push [ENT] to set and ext the scrambler code tem.
y Push [CLR], or rotate [SELECTOR] to select "Exit,"
then push [ENT] to ext Set mode.
