Step
4.
Checking
Your
StarSight
Setup
If you do not have a VCR or Cable Box, proceed to
number 4.
Now that you' ve activated
StarSight,
the final step is to
test your equipment
setup. Here's how:

Press ENTER/TUNE
on your remote control when
you see the "Congratulations!"
message.
StarSight
will now guide you through a series of
on-screen
displays.
Please follow the instructions
carefully.
All you have to do is respond to the
on-screen
prompts. If you're using a VCR, you'll be
prompted
to insert a videotape
that can be used for a
30-second
recording
test.

Find the Cable Box and VCR codes on your
StarSight
Checklist.
If you' ve listed more than one code for a given
brand of Cable Box and VCR, don't worry:
StarSight
lets you test each code until the correct
one has been found.
Be sure the Remote Emitters
you placed previously
are positioned
according
to the instructions
earlier in
this section.

Follow the on-screen
instructions
until you see a
screen that says: Congratulations!
If you have any difficulty
finding the correct code or
getting your VCR or Cable Box to respond,
call the
StarSight
Help Desk at (800) 628-STAR.
Your StarSight
System is now all set up and ready
to collect program
information.
You'll begin to
receive StarSight
program information
whenever
your TV is turned off or turned to your PBS station.
Initially, it will take between
4 and 12 hours to
collect program
information,
so we recommend
that
you simply wait overnight.
While your TV is off, it
will gather the information
that it needs. Following
this initial process, your system will automatically
be updated with the latest program
information
any
time your TV is turned off.
YOU SHOULD
ALSO KNOW...
It is important that you:
Always be sure your"IV set is plugged in.
Always leave your Cable Box ON, otherwise you risk losing your StarSight program information.
Be sur_ you leave your VCR OFF when it's not being used. If you forget to turn off your VCR, a scheduled recording
cannot occur.
It will normally take from 3 to 5 seconds
for Cable Box channels to change. This is the time it takes for the Remote
Emitter's infrared signal to communicate
with your Cable Box.
