6. Finger Masking
Depending on the density or color of the original, finger
NOTE !
masking may not function properly. If the finger masking
function masks more of the image than necessary, turn the
finger masking function off.
The finger masking function does not work properly in the
following cases. (The term "finger" in the following
sentences includes the shadow of the finger.)
When there is not at least one finger on the left or right
-
side of the original.
When the fingers cover 10 cm or more from the left and
-
right edges of the original.
When a finger covers half or more of one page, even
-
when the distance from the edge of the original to the
finger is 10 cm or less.
When a finger is over the bottom edge of the original.
-
When a finger is within 3 cm from the top edge of the
-
original.
When the original contains an image, such as a
-
photograph, and the distance between the image and the
finger is 3 cm or less.
Read the image.
The "Scan" button is active when "Spread" is selected.
The "Right scan" button and "Left scan" button are active when "Single"
or "Split" is selected.

Select automatic or manual center erase. When
"Auto" is selected, the shadow along the binding of
the book is automatically detected and erased.
When the "Auto" option is not selected, the area
corresponding to the center of the book table is
erased, regardless of the condition of the original.
Erasing width
Masks the fingers that are holding the original with
"White".
Finger Masking: OFF
Finger Masking: ON
