In the Repeater Mode, the WDS (Wireless Distribution System) protocol does not
allow 802.1x and WPA to operate due to the standards' inability to dynamically
change the encryption keys.
NXA-WAP200G Wireless Access Point
Enables/disables the ability of the WAP200G to function as a wireless repeater
and the ability to wirelessly communicate with other WAPs via WDS (Wireless
Distribution System) links.
• The three common wireless repeater configurations available with the
WAP200G are: Star and Chain Configuration (FIG. 43). This means you do
not have to run an Ethernet cable to each WAP in order for it to be
connected on the network. DO NOT CREATE A LOOP configuration.
• This feature enables you to locate the WAP200G in areas where running an
Ethernet cable would be difficult. Through the WDS links, traffic stemming
from this WAP is routed to other WAPs which are connected to the wired
network. You can specify up to six WDS links, where each link is defined by
the MAC Addresses of the other Repeater capable WAP.
• Unique MAC Addresses for those communicating external WAPs seeking
access to the network through the WAP200G.
• Press the Save button to incorporate the new information to the WAP200G.
• Press the Cancel button to terminate the process and return the fields to
their default values.
