Neither String or Command Outputs support any type of drag and drop operations.
While you can (in-place) edit the Channel, Address and Level codes via these
folders, you cannot edit String or Command Outputs the same way. These can only
be edited via the General tab of the Properties Control window.

Specify Port Allocation

Since dynamic tables exist at the master, KeypadBuilder is blind to the port and channel needs a keypad
project has. To allocate needed port allocation for the project file:
1. With the project file open, go to Project > Project Properties.
2. Select the Setup Information tab.
3. Click the radio button for Specify Port Allocation.
4. In the field ports type the number of ports to be allocated. A message below the port field confirms
the number of ports to allocate.
5. Click OK

Specify Channel Allocation

Since dynamic tables exist at the master, KeypadBuilder is blind to the port and channel needs a keypad
project has. To allocate needed channel allocation for the project file:

2. Select the Setup Information tab.
3. Click the radio button for Specify Channel Allocation.

Using Power Assign

One of the big time-eating factors of creating a keypad is correctly setting up the channel, address and
level function codes for any given button, and other properties that depend on button type. Use Power
Assign to streamline this process. The Power Assign feature can operate on a single button, or on a group
of selected buttons.
Select Button > Power Assign to open the Power Assign dialog.
Suppose you have a keypad file from a pre-existing job, and you like the pages. You can open the old
file, save it as a new job. However, lets assume that they came through with the wrong channel codes. A
good trick to use for this kind of operation is to Shift-select the buttons in the order you want the channel
codes to occur before copying and pasting. Start with the button that will get the first channel code and
click on it. Then hold down the Shift key, and Shift-click on the rest of the buttons you want to copy, in
the order that the final channel codes will need to occur, adding them to the selection.
Clear Channels First:
One powerful feature of Power Assign is the ability to clear the various function codes from the buttons.
Since the buttons remain selected after the paste operation, all you need to do is bring up the Power
Assign dialog, then:
KeypadBuilder v2.1
(regardless of the port folder that contains it) into any port folder contained in either the
Channel or Level folders.
Selecting an item in the tree and then left clicking again will provide an in-place edit of the
code value.
