5.2 Interface Mode

The CLI of TL-ER6020 offers two command modes: User EXEC Mode and Privileged EXEC Mode.
User EXEC Mode only allows users to do some simple operations such as view the system
information, while Privileged EXEC Mode allows you to manage and configure the Router. Thus
different users have different privileges management.
User EXEC Mode: users should type the user name and password of the Router (the factory default
value for both of them is admin) when logging in the Router by Telnet. No password is needed when
connecting the console port with the Router. Then the users get the privilege to the User level and can
do some simple operations but cannot modify the Router's configurations.
Privileged EXEC Mode: Users can enter Privileged EXEC mode from User EXEC mode by password
authentication. Then the users get the privilege to the User level and can do any configurations to the
Router.
The CLI users are in User EXEC Mode by default and free to switch between User EXEC Mode and
Privileged EXEC Mode. The following table gives detailed information about the Accessing Path,
Prompt of each mode and how to exit the current mode and access the next mode.
