Grids can have arbitrary Spacing and Subdivisions.
Setting Snap Options
The Snap to Grid option in the Display tab of Preferences (Ctrl+K) causes object corners to snap to the nearest grid
intersection if selected. The Spacing and Subdivisions settings affect the granularity of Snapping: smaller Spacings
and larger Subdivisions allow fi ner movements when Snap to Grid is enabled. The Snap to Grid is also available in the
Contextual menu.

Tutorial: Building a Chess Board

Chess afi cionados can use the Floor primitive and the Weld Connectors option to create a chess board. Follow
these steps:
1 Select File > New (Ctrl+N) to make a new fi le.
2 Select Top view in the Solid Object Editor by pressing F5 or Contextual Menu > Preset Position >Top.
3 Select the Floor object in the Solid Objects toolbar and click in the Top view to create a single Floor object.
4 In the Options toolbar, enable the Weld Connectors option and change the Weld Distance to 1 ft.
5 In the Solid Objects toolbar, select the Floor object again and click in the Top view to create a second Floor object.
6 Select and drag the second Floor object and position it to the right of the fi rst one with connectors aligned. The
transparent gray circles surrounding the connectors will glow yellow when they are within weld distance.
