CHAPTER 10
When multiple objects are selected, they are all highlighted in red in the Solid Object Editor with the Direct Selection Tool
(A) active.

Moving Objects

With the Direct Selection Tool (A) active, you can move objects by clicking in them and dragging them to a new
position. In Perspective or Isometric view, the object will move in the horizontal plane on which it rests only. You can
move the object vertically by clicking on it, moving it in the plane and then dragging it with the Shift key held down.
Holding down the Ctrl key while dragging will constrain the object to move along a single axis. In Top, Bottom, Left,
Right, Front and Back view the object can be moved vertically without holding down Shift.
Vertically moving objects in Perspective or Isometric view is just a little tricky. To move vertically, click on the object
and move it within its current plane before holding down the Shift key–at which point you can move vertically. If you
hold down the Shift key before clicking the object, nothing will happen.
You can also move objects vertically by opening a New View (F4) and selecting Preset Position > Front from the
Contextual Menu and then moving the object in that view.
