Coat the terminals of cables and battery
with special grease or Vaseline.
CAUTION
When reassembling bring electric
c a b le s i n t h e i r p o s i t i o n c a r e f ul l y
avoiding any crushing.
Negative cable (–) shall not be placed
over positive cable (+) fastening but
near it between battery and box.
Push the battery inside the battery box.

Close the battery cover (1).

CHANGING A FUSE

C a r e f u l l y
(MAINTENANCE).
F R O N T
Do not repair faulty fuses.
Never use a fuse of a rating other than
specified.
This could damage the electric system
or cause a short circuit, with the risk of
fire.
NOTE
When a fuse fitted in a particular
position keeps blowing frequently, there
might be a short circuit or overloading. In
this case, contact an aprilia Authorised
Dealer.

CAUTION

Checking the fuse (1) is recommended
whenever an electric component fails to
operate or is malfunctioning, or when the
engine does not start.
Check as follows:
u
Set the ignition switch to " " to avoid
any short-circuit.
u
Remove the inspection cover, see
page 60 (REACHING THE BATTERY).
u
Extract and check the fuse (1) - a broken
filament (2) means that the fuse is
blown.
u
Before replacing a fuse, identify the
cause of the failure, if possible.
Then replace the damaged fuse with the
u
outfit spare fuse (3) or with one of the
same amperage.
