CHECKING THE ELECTROLYTE
LEVEL

Carefully read page 86 (BATTERY).
Remove the battery from its mount, see
page 87 (REMOVING THE BATTERY
).

Check that the fluid level is between the
two ≈MIN∆ and ≈MAX∆ marks stamped on
the side of the battery.
If not so:
Unscrew and remove the element caps.
CAUTION
Use only distilled water to top up the
battery fluid. Do not fill above the
"MAX" mark as the level increases
during recharging.
Top up with distilled water only.
CAUTION
After topping up, refit the element caps.
Refit the element caps.

RECHARGING THE BATTERY

Carefully read page 86 (BATTERY).
Remove the battery from its mount, see
page 87 (REMOVING THE BATTERY
).

Unscrew and remove the element caps.
Check the level of the battery fluid, see

After recharging, check the battery fluid
level again and top up if necessary with
distilled water.
Tighten down the element caps.
CAUTION
A l l o w 5 - 1 0 m i n u t e s t o p a s s a f t e r
recharging before re-installing the
battery, inasmuch as it continues
p r o d u c i n g g a s f o r a w h i l e a f t e r
recharging.
