STARTING
WITH FLOODED ENGINE
The engine may flood due to a faulty start
or due to excess fuel in the intake ducts.
To purge a flooded engine:
Press the start push button ≈
∆ (5) for a
u
few seconds (this runs the engine under
no lo ad) with the throttle g rip (6 )
completely turned to (Pos. A).
STARTING WITH COLD ENGINE
If the ambient temperature is very low
(near to or below 0°C) it may be difficult to
start the engine at the first attempt.
If this occurs:
Hold down the start push button for five
u
seconds ≈
∆ (5) with the accelerator
grip turned to (Pos. A) (6).
If the engine starts.
Release the throttle grip (6).
u
If the idling rpm is unstable, turn the
u
throttle grip (6) repeatedly by a small
amount.

If the engine does not start.
Wait for a few seconds and repeat the
S T A R T I N G W I T H C O L D E N G I N E
procedure.
If necessary, remove the spark plug, see
u
page 84 (SPARK PLUG) and check for
humidity.
Clean and dry it off if necessary.
u
Before refitting:
NOTE
Place a clean cloth on the
cylinder next to the spark plug seat, to
protect against oil.
u
Press the start push button ≈
∆ (6) and
run the starter for about 5 seconds
without accelerating.

STARTING
AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF INACTIVITY
If the vehicle has not been used for a long
time, it is possible that starting fails due to
a partially drained fuel supply.
In this case:

Press the start push button ≈
∆ (5) for
a r o u n d 1 0 s e c o n d s t o a l l o w t h e
carburetor float chamber to fill.
