Changing the Path Cost

Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to change the path cost for STP calculations.
The STP command applies to the stp-list.

Changing the Port Priority

Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to change the port priority, which is used when
two switches tie for position as the root switch. The stp-list is the list of VLANs to which the STP
command applies.

spanning-tree [vlan stp-list]
port-priority port-priority
Step 4

Purpose
Enter global configuration mode.
Enter interface configuration mode, and enter the port to be configured.
Configure the path cost for the specified spanning-tree instance.
Enter a number from 1 to 65535.
Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Verify your entry.
Purpose
Enter global configuration mode.
Enter interface configuration mode, and enter the port to be configured.
Configure the port priority for a specified instance of STP.
Enter a number from 0 to 255. The lower the number, the higher the priority.
Return to privileged EXEC mode.
Verify your entry.
