Replacing the motherboard

Only use original spare parts or components approved for this device. You can find
information on this under- "Hardware accessories (Page 33)".
The motherboard is supplied as a spare part without a processor and without memory
modules.
Requirement
• You are familiar with the important safety instructions under "Safety instructions on
device and system extensions (Page 50)".
• You have noted the firmware settings because the configuration data of the device are
deleted when the motherboard is replaced.
Information on the firmware settings can be found in the User Manual (UM) for the
motherboard, see "Important instructions and manuals for operating the device
(Page 10)".
• The device is fully disconnected from the mains voltage, see "Switching off the device
(Page 72)".

Procedure
1. Open the device. See the notes under "Open the device (Page 77)".
2. Remove the expansion cards from the slots. (Page 80)
3. Slide installed 5.25" components forward.
4. Note the assignment of all cables to the motherboard.
5. Disconnect all cables from the motherboard.
6. Remove the processor as described under "Replacing the processor (Page 123)".
7. Unscrew the 11 screws securing the motherboard in the device. You can find information on
the location of the screws under "Layout of the motherboard (Page 151)".
8. Remove the motherboard.
9. Carefully insert the new motherboard into the device and fasten the motherboard with the
screws.
10. Mount the processor as described under "Replacing the processor (Page 123)".
The processor bracket of the new motherboard contains a plastic cover to protect the
contact springs. This is released when the processor bracket is opened for the first time.
11. Reconnect all cables to the corresponding points.
12. Put the 5.25" components back in the correct position.
13. Reinsert all previously removed expansion cards into their slots.
14. Close the device.
15. Reconnect the device to the mains voltage and switch on the device.
16. Update the firmware settings to match the new motherboard version.
